Host Resolution - 59th Annual Meeting, Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon

WHEREAS, the American Society of Mammalogists held its Fifty-ninth Annual Meeting on the campus of Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon; and

WHEREAS, the occasion was marked by the high quality of the scientific reports, discussions, poster sessions, and symposia; and

WHEREAS, this heady intellectual atmosphere was enhanced regularly by convivial social occasions, by the well-appointed arrangements, by the friendly members of the University community, and by the beauty and charm of the OSU campus; and

WHEREAS, by special arrangements affected by the local committee the Oregon Coast welcomed us with an afternoon of gorgeous weather, and the Pacific Ocean generously gave up some of its riches for our gastronomic benefit; and

WHEREAS, on every hand was evidence of the meticulous planning and hard work of the members of the local committee whose dedication to our comfort and enjoyment was surpassed only by their friendliness and courtesy; and

WHEREAS, without the tireless efforts of the local committee and the hospitality of Oregon State University the high quality of our gathering would not have been possible;

Therefore be it resolved, that the members and guests of the American Society of Mammalogists, in session on 21 June 1979, warmly and enthusiastically extend their thanks, appreciation, and affection to the officials of Oregon State University, the members of the local committee, and above all to its able Chairman, B. J. Verts, for an outstanding job well done.
