Host Resolution - 65th Annual Meeting, University of Maine, Orono, Maine

WHEREAS, the 65th annual meeting of the American Society of Mammalogists was held at the University of Maine on 16-20 June 1985; and

WHEREAS, UMO is in Orono which is just north of Bangor and the home range of most mammalogists; and,

WHEREAS, Down East is up north; and

WHEREAS, early summer weather meant donning sou'westers; and,

WHEREAS, intellectual activity was hard wrested from moose trips, canoe floats, and L. L. Bean coats; and,

WHEREAS, the Grinnellian inbreeding, outbreeding, and backcrossing of mammalogists is growing exponentially and is thought to be productive; and,

WHEREAS, we all experienced the repeated attempts to launch Hauck Auditorium; and,

WHEREAS, the guarantee of a lobster in every pot and under every tent resulted in an addition to the endangered species list;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the American Society of Mammalogists expresses heartfelt thanks to the University of Maine, the Local Committee, and especially our colleagues Bill Glanz and John BissonetteĀ
