Host Resolution - 56th Annual Meeting, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas

WHEREAS, the American Society of Mammalogists has held its fifty-sixth annual meeting from 20-24 June 1976 at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas; and

WHEREAS, the high plains of Texas are endowed with a richness and diversity of mammalogists and mammalogical research, if not of topography; and

WHEREAS, all participants have enjoyed warm and generous hospitality, excellent facilities, and a sampling of the wind, sun, thunder, lightning, rain, and beautiful cloud formations that characterize this extraordinary part of North America; and

WHEREAS, the scientific program has been full, excellent in quality, well programmed, and punctual; and

WHEREAS, an extremely diverse and enjoyable supplementary program of activities for members and their families has been provided, including a bountiful supply of Texas propaganda, and an innovative entertainment program for children, which itself included some Texas indoctrination; and

WHEREAS, a memorable expedition to Palo Duro Canyon on the north edge of the plateau featured an outdoor barbecue, high quality entertainment, and north Texas rainstorms of both real and imaginary types;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the American Society of Mammalogists expresses its thanks to Texas Tech University for hosting this meeting, and its warmest appreciation to the members of the Local Committee, and especially to its chairman Robert L. Packard and Program Chairman Hugh H. Genoways, and most especially to several unofficial committee members such as Pat Packard and Jan Jones, for their tremendous efforts in making this a smooth-running, extremely enjoyable, and profitable meeting.
