WHEREAS, the Society for Marine Mammalogy has become officially organized and has had its first regular meeting in Boston on December 2, 1983, during the Fifth Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals; and
WHEREAS, the American Society of Mammalogists has by official action of its Board of Directors, Committees, and individual members, supported the formation of this Society; and
WHEREAS, we share many members, and there is mutual benefit to be derived by continued cooperation;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the American Society of Mammalogists congratulates the Society for Marine Mammalogy and its founding members for this accomplishment.
